The Dental Servant's Voice
I wake up every morning and realize how blessed I am to be a dentist. I know this may sound corny, but I get to go to work and truly help people. Whatever aspect of my profession, I am intimately involved with, and responsible for the oral health of my patients. It may appear to be something as routine as a dental prophylaxis, but that affords me the time to get to know and understand my patients and their perspective of dentistry and their overall health. What a gift!
By taking the time to learn about each individual, I can help to create a positive impact and mental understanding of my area of healthcare. If I can reduce the fears and apprehension of one patient, I believe I have helped to create a more comforting experience for him/her.
Dentistry doesn't have to be viewed as a necessary evil where the only memories people retain are of pain and suffering. Modern day dentistry allows me to provide an environment where one can feel comfortable and cared for in a relaxing environment. Sure, there are aspects of my profession that can be uncomfortable, but the overall mindset of the individual that is being treated can be allayed of all fears and anxiety. In our office, the patient is always put first in our effort to create a positive experience for them. And, going forward, I will continue to do whatever I can to put smiles on people's faces, both literally and figuratively!
